Begin with a good reference photo. not blurry, and with enough pixels to enlarge without distortion. Then,

Once this is done, draw a grid on our paper with the same number of squares you drew on the reference photo. If you would like your drawing larger or smaller, adjust the grid to this.

Needed drawing supplies:Here are a few supplies I used in drawing "Temple Shoes". There are many lines in the wood and shoes and steps here. I spent many hours working with the wood steps and posts that are along the sides of the steps. I learned that it looks more realistic if you use your tortillions and blending sticks to create the illusion of lines with shading and tones. If you get nothing else from this tutorial lens, get this one. Be sure to watch for the lighting and highlights that create the realism in the edges of these. I also should point out that I tend to work from the upper right portion of the drawing to the lower left portion. This is because I am left handed,

I also tend to use this time to add small amounts of darks (carbon pencil) spaced sparingly, yet evenly around the drawing. Finish by spraying a fixative over the drawing to prevent fading and smearing.
