I have no real brand preference but here a little shoe knowledge that may help pare down your choices(apologies if this is not what you are looking for):
The lowest price point shoes have soles like house shoes in that you can slide on either foot.
The mid price shoes come with one slide shoe an the other has traction to help with stability and grip if you push off your last step.
The high price point shoes have interchangeable heels and slide surfaces. This helps if you bowl frequently in different houses with more or less slippery approaches or are super picky about your footing.
IMHO low price shoes are perfectly fine for beginners. They get you a consistent slide vs house shoes and there no creepy factor. If you are interested in more than recreational entry level bowling then the mid level shoes are for you.
I wear a pair of Brunswick Classics (I got them as a birthday gift, or I would still be rocking my mid price shoes) I don slide and have never changed my heel or toe out even in different bowling alleys.
