The other answers aren really correct here. Anyone who has walked in an office with wood or tile floors knows that leather soles are not quieter.
As far as comfort, I think my leather soled shoes are more comfortable on some surfaces but less comfortable on pavement and very hard surfaces. Traction is also poorer.
Honestly, the main reason for leather soles in my eyes is that they have a slim profile and look much better. That all. Rubber soles tend to be chunky and look cheaper. The vast majority of the time, leaving it unbuttoned looks leagues better in terms of how the jacket shapes itself around your upper body. It also much more comfortable and gives you significantly more mobility. Jackets today are designed with this principle in mind and the bottom button is never intended to be buttoned.
